Two weeks of holidays ahead so don't expect any updates but I wanted to post at least a short one before leaving.
Guess who is again on top of the league after 7 rounds ?
The surprising leader Argentinos Jrs saw their good run end with a big 0-4 defeat at Lanus, and their two followers, San Lorenzo and Arsenal could not get past a draw against Godoy Cruz and River respectively so the defending champion with a hardworking 2-1 win vs Olimpo took the 1st place of Inicial.
The league is completely open because while Newell's is still probably the best team, there are lots of teams very close to them and it's very difficult to see a clear candidate even though we are two weeks away from the half of the tournament.
With one game pending in round 7 (Gimnasia - Colon that will play on Monday night) this are the standings:

One quarter of Inicial 2013 is gone and not much has changed: Newell's, despite losing coach Gerardo Martino (maybe you saw him at some red and blue team at Spain) and their top scorer, Ignacio Scocco are still one step ahead of everybody else in this league.
They can't relax though, like they did last Saturday when they conceded an equalizer in the last minute vs Estudiantes, because there 9 (nine!!) teams behind them within 3 points and like always in the league, anything can happen.
Estudiantes and Argentinos Juniors have been among the surprises of these 5 rounds.
Argentinos, with a squad full of unknwons, won 3 in a row before a 0-0 at Arsenal this last weekend, and got a lot closer to get out of the relegations zone. It won't be easy, but their season couldn't have started in a better way.
Estudiantes had their legend Juan Sebastian Veron back, but he got injured quickly and missed the last 3 games. Nevermind, they've been improving from week to week, they beat Boca and had the draw at Newell's I mentioned before.
Boca looked improve last weekend vs Velez despite missing Juan Roman Riquelme who picked his first (and for sure not only) injury of the season.
Fernando Gago's debut was a perfect one and they won 2-1 to get 2 points behind Newell's.
Two of the "Big 5" (or "Big 4" now that Independiente is in Nacional B) have been really struggling. River set an all time club record by scoring only 2 goals in 5 games while Racing lost 6 in a row (including Copa Sudamericana where they were eliminated by Lanus) and had to change coach last week.
A lot going on as usual in the league, if you want to keep up with everything send me an email to firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP and join the 5th season of Argentina Previews service !!!
