Argentina Football Previews 2013/2014

Just a quick reminder for those that are still thinking whether to join or not...Inicial 2013 is only one week away !!!

As I've been doing since 2009 (and 2010 through the blog) there will be two different services, which can be combined to get the BEST information there is about Argentine football :

* Early Information: 2 days before each round of Clausura starts, you get a short preview for every game with missings for each team, a few lines of analysis and a prediction.
This service includes also Copa Libertadores/Sudamericana games that involve an Argentinean team.

* Full Previews: very early in the morning of each league game you get a full preview with even deeper information, analysis, probable lineups and predictions.
This service does not include any Copa Libertadores/Sudamericana game.

Both services include a short analysis of previous games, plus odds comments, bets recommendations and of course, I'm available on Skype/Email to answer any questions.

Contact me now at mncarg@gmail.com for fee details, previews samples (you can see any game of the last 4 years) and other questions.

Join ASAP for the whole semester and you will get a special price with a discount !!!

The Argentine football season officially ended last week after Newell's was eliminated in the Copa Libertadores semifinals on a penalties shootout vs Ronaldinho's Atletico Mineiro where they missed 3 in a row after a 2-2 aggregate.
Probably the end of an era for Newell's, as coach Gerardo Martino is leaving, top scorer Ignacio Socco too and there are rumors that Gabriel Heinze could retire.

But...football never stops in this part of the world.
After some short vacations all teams have already started their winter trainings as Inicial 2013 is only a couple of weeks away (1st round kicks off on August 2nd).
While River, Racing, Lanus, Belgrano and Velez will have a double competition because they will play Copa Sudamericana, San Lorenzo will be the only one involved in three tournaments because besides the league and the international tournament, they are also still in Copa Argentina Quarterfinals.

The transfers market started quietly but is heating up lately.
San Lorenzo was one of the most active, getting a few young players like San Martin's left back Emanuel Mas, Quilmes' Fernando Elizari and Martin Cauteruccio, plus ex Espanyol goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez.
River is another team that looks stronger with playmaker Jonathan Fabbro (ex Boca, Cerro Porteño) and according to reports Colombian striker Teo Gutierrez and Arsenal's midfielder Carlos Carbonero might join soon.

Boca is on the quiet side so far. Walter Ervitti left as well as Leandro Somoza, and their biggest new name for now is ex Colon's striker Emanuel Gigglioti.

Velez won 1-0, the outcome was the predicted one in the Free Preview but the game wasn't.
Velez looked much more focused and played better for 20 minutes but the game changed after that. Newell's dominated, and they had their best chance in a penalty kick that included a red card for Velez' captain Fabian Cubero.
Ignacio Scocco missed his 3rd penalty in a row (not counting the penalties shootout vs Boca in the Quarterfinals of Copa Libertadores) but they kept dominating for the remaining 60 minutes of the game, having the best chances to score, while Velez was just holding to the 1-0 lead.
Should have been definitely at least a draw but Velez is the "Super Champion" and will play Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores next season.

This was Lucas Pratto only goal of the game:

Football doesn't stop of course, Copa Libertadores resumes this week with the semifinals (Olimpia beat Colombian side Santa Fe 2-0 last night) and Newell's will host Ronaldinho's Atletico Mineiro at Rosario tonight in a game that could have been the final of this competition.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most teams started their winter training camps this week with little news in a transfer market.
One of the most important news that is probably going under the radar is that 38 years old Juan Sebastian Veron will try to come out of retirement to play for Estudiantes.
Also Colon has a new coach, ex San Martin's Ruben Forrestello who was deserving a chance in a team that isn't fighting to avoid relegation, and like it was confirmed a few weeks ago, ex Boca's Julio Cesar Falcioni is All Boys' new coach.

Boca is undergoing major rebuilding: Clemente Rodriguez didn't renew his contract and will play for Sao Paulo, Walter Ervitti said he wants to leave, Leandro Somoza will be transferred and Santiago Silva was licensed while he negotiates a transfer.

Inicial 2013 will start on August 2 and this will be the schedule for the first round:
Boca vs  Newell's (will be postponed due to Newell's Copa Libertadores commitments)
Rosario Central vs Quilmes
Godoy Cruz  vs  Argentinos Jrs
Colon vs Racing
Gimnasia vs River Plate
San Lorenzo vs Olimpo
Tigre vs Velez
Arsenal vs Estudiantes
All Boys vs Atletico Rafaela
Lanus vs  Belgrano

Of course only the Sunday of each round is established, the date of each game will be released as usual 10-15 days in advance (or less).
River - Boca on round 10 (probably October 6) and the two "returning" big derbies, Estudiantes - Gimnasia on Round 8 and Rosario Central - Newell's on round 12.

The tournament starts on August 2, ends on December 8 and will have two midweek rounds, the 2nd one (Wednesday August 7) and the 13th (Wednesday October 23).
Also Nacional B has it schedule and Independiente will debut at home against the VERY  small club Brown de Adrogue, that will also make their debut in the 2nd tier of Argentine football.
For those interested, Nacional B will have 22 teams from this season, and this is the schedule:
