Up and down week for Newell's as they joined Lanus at the top of the league last week, but lost 0-1 at home vs Velez in the 1st leg of Copa Libertadores' Round of 16, curiously the same rival that they had beaten on Friday 3-1 to reach 22 points.
The away win was not deserved at all and the series that will have its 2nd leg in almost 3 weeks, looks still very open.

Lanus continues with their small downslide. They are still undefeated in 2013 but won only one of the last 4 games and last week failed to beat the almost relegated Union!

If we have to talk about teams down in the hole, no one is deeper than Independiente. They lost again, 0-2 at Rafaela, and they are realizing that they might get relegated for the first time ever.

Estudiantes is down there with them as well, still winless in 2013 but with a better Averages that will keep them safe at least for this season, while Boca continues with their usual struggle but this time they managed to hold their rival to a 0-0 draw.
No wins in 9 league games for Boca who will play at home vs Corinthians on Wednesday for Copa Libertadores' Round of 16 in a rematch of last year's final.
Will Juan Roman Riquelme recover on time to play ?
Oh, and next week they host River in a new edition of the Superclasico !!!

River got an important win at Mendoza vs Godoy Cruz, San Lorenzo ended their bad streak with a good performance and a 3-1 win at Arsenal and Racing did everything to deserve the 3 points but conceded a very late goal in the 1-1 vs Colon.

All the goals of Round 10:

Final 2013 - Round 9 - Halfway through, Lanus still on top

Nine rounds gone of Final 2013, almost half of the 19 that will be played and not much has changed since I wrote the last roundup: Lanus is still the undefeated leader and after two consecutive draws they finally won again with a 92nd goal by their top scorer, Silvio Romero, against an All Boys that didn't deserve to lose.

They are followed by Gerardo Martino's Newell's, led by Ignacio Scocco who's arguably the best player in the league at this moment (check his beautiful goal, the the 3rd of the 3-1 vs Tigre in the video with all the goals of this round).
Not far away we have River, Godoy Cruz and Arsenal, while Racing is a little bit behind and hoping to find some regularity after the great 4-1 win in the derby vs San Lorenzo with 4 goals scored by their youth divisions players (don't miss San Lorenzo's goal, an amazing 88 meters run by young Hector Villalba).

Boca's struggles are also the same as a few weeks ago but they are getting even more humilliating. This time it was a historic 1-6 defeat at San Martin de San Juan, a team that didn't have a win in 16 matches !

The relegations fight is becoming hotter than ever. Union and San Martin chances of staying in 1st division are slimmer each week, and the 3rd relegation spot will be taken by Independiente (one of the two "Big 5" clubs, with Boca, that were never relegated), Quilmes or San Lorenzo.

All the weekend goals (except for Belgrano 3 - Quilmes 0):
