Final 2013 - Round 1 - Lanus brilliant, Boca and River win
Very good first round of the new tournament, Final 2013, with some games that had everything like the very dramatic Independiente 1 - Newell's 3 where the hosts, desperate about their situation in the Averages table, missed a penalty with 15 minutes left and conceded only a few minutes later to complete their 10th game without a win and to continue going down in the Averages table.
Will Independiente get relegated for the first time ever, leaving Boca as the only club that never played in 2nd division ?
Boca's win had it share of drama as well. After only 10 minutes they had conceded twice and it took them almost 40 minutes to create their first goal chance when midfielder Walter Ervitti put the 1-2.
The 2nd half was different, Boca went for the equalizer and scored it but only a few minutes later they found themselves with 10 penalties and a penalty for the vistors.
Goalkeeper Agustin Orion saved it and later Guillermo Burdisso scored the 3-2 with a very nice volley to complete the comeback in Carlos Bianchi's return as a coach after 6 years.
River got a very important win at Belgrano playing the 2nd half with 10 men due to Leonardo Ponzio being sent off for punching a rival from behind, Racing had a completely disappointing game in the 0-3 defeat at Atletico Rafaela, the champion Velez debuted with a bad performance but they won 1-0 at Argentinos, Tigre continues their very good run by beating Estudiantes 3-1, but without any doubts the best performance of the weekend was seen last night in Lanus 4 - Colon 0.
The "Granates" were superior to Colon in every way, played great football and showed that despite changing a couple of players during the summer break they are still the very solid team that finished in 4th place in Inicial 2012.
