Round 14 (of 19) started on Friday with the top 3 teams of Inicial playing at home against weaker teams and really looking forward to get the 3 points but curiously only one of them did it and it was the one that played the worst of them !

Belgrano 0 - Argentinos Jrs. 0

Tough first half for Belgrano where Argentinos should have scored. The Cordoba team played better in the 2nd half and had their best chance in stoppage time as Victor Aquino, alone with the guest's goalkeeper, decided to make his own goal instead of giving the ball to one of his open team mates. The draw was a fair result even if Belgrano was closer in the end.
Two points lost for Belgrano rather than 1 won because of what happened later in the day...

Newell's 0 - Quilmes 0

Newell's definitely deserved the 3 points. Quilmes played only the first 10 minutes and decided to just defend for the remaining 80, but Newell's couldn't find a way to break that 9 men defense.
The hosts had the best chances to win it and made Quilmes' goalkeeper Emanuel Tripodi the man of the match. Useless draw for both, especially for Newell's because they are no longer the leaders of Inicial.

Velez 2 - Godoy Cruz 1

As you probably already know the new leader of Inicial is Velez, the only team today that needed to win and did it but the game was much tougher than what they expected.
Godoy Cruz played an intelligent game and scored first but a huge defensive mistake a few minutes later gave the hosts the equalizer before halftime.
The 2nd half wasn't much different. Velez was trying any way possible but they were not clear at all and when it looked like we were headed for the third consecutive draw Facundo "Chucky" Ferreyra found a deflected ball on the box and scored his 5th goal in 3 games (he had a hat trick vs Arsenal last week).
Velez is now the leader with 29 pts, Newell's has 28, Belgrano 26 and now Lanus, Boca and Racing have a big chance of getting closer to the top.
