Argentina Football Season 2011/2012 - The End

Although it's not technically finished because we still have the Copa Argentina final pending to be played on August 8, we could say that the Argentine football season ended today with San Martin and San Lorenzo saying in 1st division while Instituto and Rosario Central will play again in Nacional B.

According to the latest AFA news the new season would start on Friday August 3 (San Lorenzo and San Martin could be allowed to start one week later) with a new format: we will still have Apertura/Clausura but now called Inicial and Final, and we will have only one season champion that will come out of a final between the winners of each tournament.

Also the relegation system changes: we will still have the awful Averages, but now the bottom 3 of that table will be relegated and that's it.

Keep an eye on www.ArgentinaPreviews.com because I will try to update as often as possible with the transfer market news.

It promises to be and interesting winter as we already have some confirmed transfers (Racing's defender Caceres to Newell's, All Boys' midfielder Zapata to Belgrano, Estudiantes has a new coach which is Diego Cagna) and some rumors (Estudiantes' Mercado and Enzo Perez to River for example).
